Women’s health: 5 things women must do to stay fit

April 7, 2021

Hello, ladies! Have you ever prioritised your health before everything in your life? If not, it is high time you do. And when we say ‘staying fit’, it doesn’t mean eating less or working out way more than it is required. It means attaining good health with smart healthy lifestyle choices. Here are a few tips to follow for women out there to keep themselves fit and sassy as always!

    1. Give your body enough and more water
Drink at least 3-4 litres of water a day. It keeps your body physically and mentally healthy. Don’t let yourself be dehydrated. Always remember to carry a bottle of water with you. Drinking water not only helps you in losing and maintaining weight but also helps you in eating less during meal times.
    2. Shake that body
Always stay physically active. If you don’t have time for a daily workout, you can bring a few changes to your lifestyle to compensate for that. For eg, try climbing the stairs instead of taking a lift or take a break to stretch your muscles in between work. However, ideally, you should do 30 minutes of moderately intense workout like jogging, walking, swimming, etc. every day or at least 150 minutes of workout every week.
    3. Eat well, but eat wisely
Follow a diet that includes all the necessary proteins, nutrients, iron, and calcium for your body. Don’t hesitate to include a lot of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fish, meat, and nuts in your diet. Intake of calcium is very important as you age. Leafy vegetables, cabbage, dairy products, tofu, and grains are good sources of calcium. Don’t be afraid to include an additional supplement of calcium, iron or Vitamin C.
    4. Stress can wait
NO. NO. Absolute no to stress. Stop stressing about everything. Most women are constantly worried about something in their life. Don’t let the stress eat your health. Mental health is as important as physical health. Take enough time off, relax, and take a deep breath. Meditation and yoga might help you in managing stress.
    5. Keep your calendar open for regular checkups
When was the last time you visited a doctor? No. We are not talking about the time you took your child to their paediatrician. Your health is just as big a priority. You don’t always have to go to a doctor because you are sick. Your body is going through major changes and some of them are slowly but steadily slowing you down. Make sure you do regular checkups at least once or twice a year. Don’t forget to do monthly breast self-exams. Visit a doctor in case of any symptoms or signs. Keep your ears wide open to hear what your body has to say.

Step up your fitness game with these few tips. Prioritise yourself and your health before everything else. Because a healthy body keeps you moving. It helps you conquer new heights! So, buckle up, ladies!
