  1. High impact exercises: People with healthy and strong bones can use high-impact exercises like running and jumping to further strengthen their bones. However, people with weaker bones further strain their bones by running and jumping, causing the bones to be injured.
  2. Exercises that require bending of the body: You would think that slow-paced exercises like yoga are safe for the bones. However, exercises like yoga, pilates, sit-ups, toe touches, and more require you to bend and twist the body. A person with osteoporosis does not have a strong vertebra to withstand sit-ups and toe touches. They put a lot of pressure on the bones increasing the risk of injury.
  3. Certain sports: Sports activities like tennis and golf that require your body to twist and turn a certain way puts immense pressure on the spine and other bones. It is best to avoid the ones that specifically target certain bones in the body.
  4. Forms of dance: While light movement and grooving are encouraged simply for the joy that comes with dancing, dance forms like ballet, classical dance forms, and demand a flexible body that a person with osteoporosis may not be able to deliver.
  5. Activities with a high fall-risk: Most people dislocate and fracture their bones due to a fall. Avoid activities like skating, skiing, and other activities that require a lot of balance.
  6. Not maintaining proper posture when working out: Certain exercises can help strengthen the bones. However, if these exercises are not performed the right way, they can do more harm than good. Learning the right posture and technique is crucial.
